Andre Borell has left Round 5 of the Genuine Ford Parts Formula Ford Championship, held on the streets of Townsville this weekend, without the trophy he was aiming for – and a damaged Master Electricians / simPRO Racing Mygale. With the next round of the Championship over three months away, there is plenty of time to work towards a better outing at the Surfers Paradise street circuit for Round 6.

Andre Borell may have had to ditch his bags and most of his clothes at Brisbane Airport in order to make it to Darwin, but he did take more valuable championship points home with him after a tough weekend. The driver of the Master Electricians / simPRO Racing Mygale SJ10a got caught in heavy traffic on the way to the airport and couldn’t check his bags in. With no alternative flights, Borell ditched everything but his race gear and headed off for Round 4 of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship anyway.

Andre Borell is feeling bullish ahead of this weekend’s fourth round of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship in Darwin. Borell is confident of returning his Master Electricians / simPRO Racing Mygale to the leading bunch this weekend, after a torrid outing at Winton for Round 3.

Andre Borell has conceded that his Master Electricians / simPRO Racing Mygale is now not realistically in with a shot at the 2010 Genuine Ford Parts Formula Ford Championship. Round 3 at Winton Motor Raceway at the weekend was a full-blown disaster for him and his Evans Motorsport team, with Borell not scoring a single point over the entire weekend. Borell – ever the optimist, doesn’t see this as all negative and is looking forward to Round 4 at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway in 4 weeks.

Andre Borell has put his Master Electricians / simPRO Racing Mygale firmly in contention for the 2010 Genuine Ford Parts Formula Ford Championship, after round 2 at Queensland Raceway on May 1st and 2nd. Borell finished the weekend equal 5th, and was happy to take two Top-5 finishes on Sunday after a solid 6th in Race 1 on Saturday.

Andre Borell and Master Electricians / simPRO Racing have started the 2010 Genuine Ford Parts Formula Ford Championship “according to plan” at the Qantas Australian Grand Prix at the weekend. Borell left the event with points in the bag and an 8th place finish for the round. Andre sits only 17 points behind championship leader Chaz Mostert after the first round. With 427 points still up for grabs over the season, the margin is by no means significant.
